Finding Your Style

When was the first time you became conscious of “your look”?

For me it was when in the eighth grade and Tumblr showed me what “swag” was. (I cringed typing that word) I’m sure you all remember when all the boys wore snapbacks and crewneck sweaters.

I was a chunkier kid (still am) so I was constantly on the look for a style that would look nice on me. I don’t think #ootds were a thing back then, so I was on lookbook.nu searching for inspiration.

Finding your style is hard because there aren’t any wrong ways and too many right ones. The options are endless and making one “yours” is difficult.

My advice — take time to experiment and try things out! I do it all the time whenever I’m feeling uninspired.

It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks about it because it’s your look and you can do whatever you want with it. If you like the way you look, you’ll feel good about yourself.

Till next time,

— P.

How I Get Over That “Meh” Feeling

Are you ever out in public for work or with friends, but all you want to do is go home and sleep? Maybe not even sleep, maybe you just feel “meh”.

Sometimes I’m super drowsy when I’m listening to a very important lecture. Sometimes I feel insecure and just want to hide.

You know what I mean?

Don’t lie.

I know you’ve felt this way.

One of the ways I combat this is to give myself little prizes that make me excited about where I am. I like to sip on my favourite drink, which right now is a cold bottle of milk tea.

I also feel more energized when I like the way I’m dressed. I wear my favourite shoes, shirt, and even my super special Calvin Klein undies. It’s hard to feel “meh” when you look super good.

Whatever it is that makes you feel energized and ready to take on the day — do it. It never hurts to make yourself happy first.

Giving yourself the best care and treatment will allow you to do the same for those around you.

Shine bright pogi!

3 Easy Steps to Clearer Skin

I was 14 when I got my first pimple. It the size of a green pea, and it sat right on my right cheekbone. Being the weirdo I was, I decided to pop it.

WORST. DECISION. EVER.

Those suckers multiplied like crazy and before I knew it, my face looked like a cheese pizza. My face was full of pimples that wouldn’t go away. I was so embarrassed about it that I avoided being photographed at all cost. I didn’t feel like my usual pogi self at all. If you look through my family’s Christmas photos that year, you’ll notice I’m not there. I was literally a ghost.

Everyone gets acne, and while it may not be the worst thing you can have, it still sucks. I hated it, so I did something about it. If acne is holding you back from doing things you want to do, let’s do something about it. Here are my best tips to clearing up your acne:

  1. Drink lots of water!
When my acne was at its worst, it was when I didn’t drink water. As much as I love those creamy frappuccinos from Starbucks, they don’t take care of your skin the way that water does. I know I drink enough water if my pee is more clear than yellow. (LOL) There are plenty of benefits to staying hydrated and clearer skin is just one of them.
  2. Find a skincare routine and be consistent!
Make sure to use products that are meant for your face and not anywhere else. The skin on your face is more sensitive, which means you shouldn’t be using a body soap to wash it or body lotion to moisturize it. You only get one face so it’s important to take care of it.
Use a cleanser to wash your face and always apply moisturizer after. If your skin is too dry, you could potentially break out even more. Get in the habit of washing your face in the morning and right before bed.
  3. Sleep!
Your body needs to rest for many reasons, and your skin is one of them. Getting enough sleep will help keep your skin looking young and supple. This will also keep those baggy eyes away, which is a huge plus!

Those are my simple tips to getting clearer skin. Stick around because I will do a more in-depth post about the products I use and more. (also check out these “Neutrogena style” face washing pictures, LOL)

Remember dudes, everyone gets acne. No matter how awful you think it is, don’t let it get in the way of you enjoying yourself and getting in those family pictures. Having acne isn’t the end of the world, but if you hate it that much then take the steps to fix it.

Till next time pogi,
