Dude, it’s 2020.
How’ve you been? It’s been a while since I posted something on here. (yikes) But I have a good reason — I needed a break.
I hope the holidays were as amazing for you as it was for me. I was able to spend some time with my loved ones at dinner, and also my family was there.
That’s right. As usual, I ate WAAY TOO MUCH.
My homie asked me if I got up to anything crazy over the break and I’m not going to lie to you, my blood sugar was up there. I know I’m not the only one.
(Don’t f*cking lie bro, I know you did it too)
Since all I’ve been doing is attending family parties and eating, I’m pretty sure I look like I’m due to give birth in 2-3 weeks. I hate it. Not being fat, but that heaviness and slow-poke-ness that comes after you’ve eaten too much good food. It’s made me conscious in my clothes because things feel hella tight, especially when I sit down.
You’re probably thinking, “new year new you baby boo, just get into the gym.”
I know that the new year is supposed to be filled with resolutions and goals, but go easy on yourself. In the past, I’ve gone from Winnie The Pooh to gym rat after the new year and I end up looking like sweaty Winnie The Pooh who isn’t much closer to his goals of having rock hard abs.
New habits take time to get used to, so this first week I’ve just been focused on getting back to my normal routine. That alone is a mission in itself.
Now that I’m back in school, I’m just tryna:
Wake up. Eat something that isn’t left overs. Live my life. Then go to bed at an inappropriate time for when I need to wake up. (LOL, again bro, don’t f*cking lie because I know you do it too)
Go easy on yourself this week my brother, you have all the time in the world to get into those new years resolutions, whatever they may be. If you’re like me and you’re rocking your holiday male pregnancy belly, here are my tips for you:
- If you got it, flaunt it. You’re body looks great because it’s yours.
- If you’re conscious about it, dress in light layers that’ll keep you from sweating too much, but will cover that belly. I personally like to wear a dark shirt with a light trucker jacket.
- Nothing makes me feel less bloated than a nice cup of peppermint tea, specifically Jade Citrus Mint from Starbucks.
- Lastly, be nice to yourself. It’s easy to get into the mindset of hating on your holiday eating decisions, but that’ll really mess you up. Everyone’s been there, so be patient and be happy with the body that you have. I know I am.
Till next time,
P.S. — I’m not sure if this is a Filipino thing, but I heard it’s good luck to rub your belly when you eat a lot. I also heard this about rubbing ceramic Buddha bellies. Correct me if I’m wrong, or comment if you’ve heard this before, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
